The CJ2+ is the fifth generation of the popular Citation Jet series, a class of private jets designed to be both economical and high-performing. Business travelers like the idea of a private jet that performs economically without sacrificing performance or reliability.
The jets of the Citation series bypass many of the complexities of their competitors, and increase performance and economy by using some of the most economic engines available.
The CJ2 was arguably the most popular member of the Citation series, and the CJ2+ is the new, improved version, offering lower fuel burn, longer range, and a larger cabin.
The Cessna Citation CJ2+ is the sensible, single-pilot-certified business jet for you and also for your business.
This intent proved to be a challenge, especially in creating an aerodynamic structure that is inexpensive to produce and handles well.
Previous Citations used a straight wing, which slows the aircraft considerably but dramatically reduces production and design costs. The Citation Jet upgraded to a natural laminar flow wing, taking four years to design in a joint venture between Cessna and NASA.
The cabin of the CJ2+ is almost identical to the cabin of the CJ2. Seats are available for six passengers, which can track into the aisle and away from the sidewalls for greater comfort. Folding side tables are available for all seats and can be stored in the side walls
For your convenience the cabin is equipped with 110-volt power outlets. The CJ2+ was redesigned with extra soundproofing for a quieter flight. Three baggage compartments can carry a total of up to 1,100 pounds of luggage. The Citation CJ2 Plus can be chartered for $3000 and hour and up at centraljetcharter.com/citation-cj2-plus.html
The CJ2+ maintains the tradition of the private jet Citation line: economy, simplicity and performance. Its operating costs are just as low as the original Citation Jet, but it offers a lot more range and a faster cruise speed.

The Cessna Citation CJ2+, the second-generation CJ2 intro–duced in 2005, is one of the most successful models in the CE525 CitationJet line-up.
More than 200 CE525A-plus airplanes now are in service and operators say it has more in common with the $1 million-plus more-expensive CJ3 than the original CJ2 that made its debut in late 2000.
Even the two instrument panels and avionics suites are virtually identical except for some standard equipment on the CJ3 that's optional on the CJ2+.
That's within 1 min. of the CJ3's time to climb to FL 450. The original CJ2's climb performance also was significantly more degraded by warm day outside air temperatures than that of the CJ2+.
The newer aircraft's climb performance is all the more impressive because it has a 125-lb. heavier MTOW.
And the CJ2+ has slightly shorter takeoff field length distances than the CJ2, plus better second-segment climb performance due to a modest thrust-to-weight ratio improvement.
Once the CJ2+ levels off at FL 450, it will stay nose to nose with the CJ3, or actually inch ahead, at maximum cruise thrust, much to the surprise of many CJ3 pilots.
On BCA's fixed distance 300-nm, 600-nm and 1,000-nm four-passenger missions, the CJ2+ and CJ3 usually finish in a virtual dead heat.
It's no surprise that the CJ2+ and CJ3 are such close performance competitors.
The engines on the CJ3 are rated at 2,820 lb. maximum thrust while those on the CJ2+ are “chipped” to 2,490 lb. for takeoff.
That's simply a flat rating programmed into the FADECs of otherwise identical engines.
The CJ3's higher thrust, however, gives it better runway performance.
Its larger wing also carries nearly 20% more fuel, enabling it to fly an extra 160 nm to 240 nm depending upon passenger load.
Both airplanes need a fuel stop when flying from the U.S. East Coast to West Coast against winter headwinds, so the CJ2+'s shorter legs aren't a shortcoming for many operators.
The CJ2+ also has a cabin that's 2.1-ft. shorter than that of the CJ3, so it's noticeably more crowded when all six chairs in the main seating area are occupied.
This aircraft offers many practical benefits like seven seats, the maximum takeoff load has been increased, climbs more quickly, cruises faster and ranges farther than its predecessor.
These low-cost, dependable jets are feasible only because of Cessna’s insistence on simplicity of design.
Indirect LED lighting adds to the sense of being nestled inside an exclusive study far from the clatter and commotion of the outside world.
Having standard seating for seven passengers, the CJ2+ give you a club plus two seating arrangement with a supplementary seat accessible utilizing the belted-flushing toilet.
Simple to fly, delivering exceptional performance, this aircraft is outfitted with a number of security and performance enhancing characteristics.
So you can bring along what you want while the cabin of this phenomenal business jet will be organized.
The CJ1+ and CJ2+’s performance is enhanced by a unique natural laminar-flow wing, which maintains an uninterrupted flow of air across a greater area of its surface. To operators of these aircraft, this translates to an increase in airspeed when compared to earlier designs.
Extending nearly three feet longer than the CJ1 cabin (.91 m), the spacious CJ2+ interior is larger than those of some jets costing many millions more.
Having a better performance Cessna Citation CJ2+ (Model 525A) uses less fuel and delivers for passengers and pilot the best comfort, more advanced avionics and FADEC controls.
The first test flight was completed on the 2nd of April 2005.
Type certification is anticipated for the 4th quarter of 2005 with first customer delivery in the second quarter of 2006.
This latest addition to the award-winning Citation family of Cessna business jets, announced in November 2004 at the National Business Aviation Association’s annual convention, was certified in just over 80 flights and 190 flight hours.
The Citation CJ2+ will provide FADEC engines, increased maximum payload, and more standard equipment then the CJ2.
Producing 2,490 pounds (11.08 kN) of thrust at sea level, is powered by two Williams FJ44-3A-24 turbofan engines.
Mission profile was paramount for many operators during their purchase evaluations.
If they needed longer legs and room for six passengers, they were attracted to the CJ3.
That’s why the Citation CJ2+ is the go-to aircraft for both business and pleasure.
But for most people, the CJ2+ was a better match for their range/payload needs. If you're going to be flying more than 1,500 nm and carrying more than four passengers, then the CJ3 is a better fit.
The design goals of the Citation Jet series can be summed up in three words: simplicity, economy and performance.
